There are three organizations that oversee the Island Parks:
Commonwealth of Massachusetts - The 17-island state park is part of the 34-island Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. They are a wonderful natural resource, only 45 minutes by ferry from downtown Boston. Seventeen of the islands are managed cooperatively by the Department of Environmental Management (DEM) and the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC). Six of the 17 islands, and Webb Memorial, a 36-acre peninsula in Weymouth, are staffed and open for public use daily during the summer and weekends in the spring and fall
The National Park Service - Boston Harbor Islands National Park area includes 34 islands situated within the Greater Boston shoreline. The islands are rich in natural and cultural resources
The
Boston Harbor Islands Partnership

Save the Harbor/Save the Bay - Save the Harbor / Save the Bay is a public interest environmental advocacy organization, made up of citizens, scientists, civic, cultural, corporate and community leaders whose mission is to restore and protect Boston Harbor and Massachusetts Bay forever, for everyone to enjoy.

The Boston History Collaborative - The Boston History Collaborative is a not-for-profit alliance of leaders from the visitor industry, the business community, local government, historic attractions and senior historians. Established in 1997, the organization's mission is to spearhead the development of a new model of historical tourism in Boston. Its mission is to increase tourism by making Boston's authentic historical attractions more exciting and interactive for both visitors and local residents.
Volunteers and Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands Inc. - The drumlins that form the Boston Harbor Islands capture the imagination with their unique plant life and wave-swept shorelines. Just a short boat ride from Boston, the islands offer experiences far from the "rat race" of the city. Boston Harbor Watershed - Geographically, the Boston Harbor Watershed is nestled in and around historic Boston Harbor, and encompasses the Mystic River Watershed to the North, and the Neponset, Fore, Back, and Weir River Watersheds to the south, as well as the Harbor coastline and all the Harbor Islands. Although the Boston Harbor Watershed is comparatively small in area, it is unique because it sustains over one-sixth of the state’s population, more than any other watershed in Massachusetts. Also, as a result of community involvement, the Harbor has seen dramatic improvements in water quality over the last five years, and Harbor Porpoises, seals, River Herring and other marine species have since returned to the harbor. And, recently, the Boston Harbor Islands were declared a "National Recreational Area" by the National Park Service. Read & learn more..
