Commodore Richard Tubman

  Fellow Sailors,

Welcome to 2009 at the Constitution Yacht Club. It is my pleasure, as this year’s commodore, to welcome you back to our thriving community for another season of boating and adventure. The spirit is already high as we kick off this year with the newly updated Racing Rules of Sailing Seminar and captains meeting. Please check out our website often for more opportunities to participate or share your ideas in our suggestion box.

While the racing rules are changing, our tradition of Wednesday night PHRF racing is not and we are always eagerly accepting new boats and crew.  In more racing news, the Volvo Ocean Race takes a stop over in our fair city for a few weeks starting at the end of April. Part of the stopover will include the Volvo Ocean Race PHRF Challenge on Weds May 13th hosted by our very own CYC, get involved!

In non-racing news the Tall Ships will be coming through Boston Harbor just after the 4th of July. Be prepared for an influx of fun and excitement. I am looking forward to carrying on the proud traditions of the CYC and expanding our community involvement. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the members of the board with thoughts or ideas.

 Thanks,

    Richard Tubman

There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
