Boat & Crew Finder
Find a Boat
You want to race but don't have a boat. Use the MBSA Clubhouse Crew & Boat Finder to post your availability and connect with skippers who need crew for Wednesday Night Racing and beyond.
MBSA Logo
CYC now uses the MBSA Clubhouse Crew & Boat Finder to connect sailors with boats. This tool is available to all sailors across MBSA member clubs — giving you access to opportunities well beyond CYC's fleet.
Getting Started
  • 1
    Create an MBSA Clubhouse Account

Head to the MBSA Clubhouse and click Become a Member. Choose a membership option, fill in your information, and select Constitution Yacht Club as your home club so skippers know you're part of the CYC community.

    Set Your Preferences

During sign-up, you'll reach a Preferences step. Make sure to check "Participate in Crew Finder" — this creates your sailing profile and makes you visible to skippers looking for crew. You can also opt into the Member Directory and MBSA mailing list.

    Complete Your Sailing Profile

The setup wizard walks you through two key sections — fill them out completely to show up in the Crew Finder:

Sailing Experience — Write a short bio in the "About Me" field, set your experience level and years, select the roles you can fill (Helm, Bow, Pit, Trimmer, Grinder, etc.), and list any certifications you hold (Safety at Sea, First Aid, CPR, US Sailing, and others). You can also add notable races, cruises, and achievements.

Racing Preferences — Choose your race areas (Mass Bay North, Central, or South), preferred organizations, the days you're typically available, and any specific date exclusions.

You can update your Sailing Experience and Racing Preferences anytime from the My Profile tab.

    Browse the Race Calendar

From the left sidebar menu, click Races to open the MBSA Sailing Calendar — a full schedule of races across all MBSA member clubs. Use the filters to search by region, club, weekday/weekend, and more. Add races you're interested in to your personal calendar under My Schedule on the Dashboard.

Request to Race on a Boat

On the race calendar, look for races with a yellow anchor icon (⚓) — this means at least one registered boat in that race is looking for crew. Click into the race, then go to the "Boats Racing" tab to see which boats are entered. Boats marked "Accepting crew" are actively looking. Click on the boat to see what roles they need, then hit "Request to Race" to send the skipper your request.

Tips for a Strong Profile
Fill Out Everything
Skippers reviewing crew requests will see your full profile. The more complete it is, the better your chances:
  • Write a real "About Me" — your background, what you enjoy about sailing, your goals
  • Select every role you're willing to fill, not just your favorite
  • Add certifications like Safety at Sea, First Aid, or CPR — these matter to skippers
  • Set your availability days accurately so you match with the right races
  • Upload a profile photo — skippers are far more likely to respond to a real person than a blank avatar
New to Racing? Say So
Don't worry if you're brand new — many CYC skippers actively seek new sailors to develop. Set your experience level honestly and use the "About Me" field to share your eagerness to learn. That honesty goes a long way.

Check out the Rookie Class — it's designed for boats with newer crews.
Not Just Wednesday Nights

The MBSA Clubhouse connects you with boats across all MBSA member clubs — so your listing can lead to opportunities beyond CYC's Wednesday Night Racing, including weekend regattas, distance races, and cruising.
