Women at the Helm
A new series within Wednesday Night Racing that encourages and rewards boats for promoting equity and inclusion in our sport — with a woman at the helm for designated race nights throughout the season.

Sailing thrives when more people are at the helm. Women at the Helm creates dedicated race nights to encourage broader participation and develop new skippers.
A Scoring Incentive
Boats that participate in all three Women at the Helm races earn an additional throwout for the entire season — a meaningful competitive advantage.

How It Works
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Women at the Helm incentive, a boat must:
- Participate in all three (3) designated Women at the Helm races
- Have a woman helmsperson for the duration of each of the three races
The Reward
Boats that complete all three Women at the Helm races will drop their worst remaining finish from the entire season scoring.
This is on top of the standard series throwouts — giving participating boats a real competitive edge in the overall season championship.
A prize will also be awarded to the top finisher across the three Women at the Helm races.

At a Glance
Three Race Nights
One designated race per series — Spring, Summer, and Fall — woven into the regular Wednesday Night Racing schedule.
Woman at the Helm
A woman must serve as helmsperson for the entire duration of all three races to qualify for the incentive.
Extra Throwout
Complete all three races and your worst remaining finish of the entire season is dropped — a significant scoring advantage.
Series Prize
A prize will be awarded to the top finisher across the three Women at the Helm races at the annual awards brunch.
Regular Racing Format
These are regular Wednesday Night races — same courses, same classes, same competition. The only difference is who is driving.
