Ahoy Sailors!

Join us for a fun and collaborative session on the art of shorthanded racing with two locals that have mastered the saying “No crew? No problem?”

2024 Newport Bermuda Double-Handed Division Champion Phil Haydon and 2025 MBSA Shorthanded Champion Lance Ryley will lead the discussion and share their best kept secrets of success. This interactive seminar will focus on the preparation, strategy, decision-making, and tactical shortcuts that allow small crews to sail fast, stay safe, and compete at a high level.

Bring your questions! We’ll cover real-world scenarios- from starts and mark roundings, to boat handling, communication and even overnight watches- to get you comfortable out on the water. Whether you’re new to shorthanded racing or looking to sharpen your approach, this session will deliver practical takeaways you can use this season.

Stick around for the social meet-and-greet following the seminar—connect with skippers and crew, swap stories, and find opportunities to get involved in weeknight and weekend racing this season.

Open to all—racers, aspiring racers, crew, boat owners, new sailors, seasoned veterans, and anyone looking to get more involved in the CYC community.
